Graduate Student Senate (GSS)

Kent State University

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) serves as the official voice of graduate students across all master’s and doctoral programs at Kent State University. Through advocacy, funding, and programming, GSS works to enhance the graduate students’ academic, professional, and social experiences.

As a representative body, GSS champions graduate student concerns at the university level. Senators act as liaisons between academic departments and university leadership, ensuring that graduate student perspectives are heard in key decision-making spaces.

GSS also supports research, travel, and professional growth through competitive funding awards. These awards empower students to present their work at conferences, conduct field research, and pursue career development opportunities.

Beyond advocacy and funding, GSS believes in community building. From social events like GradFest to the flagship Graduate Research Symposium, we create inclusive spaces where graduate students can connect, collaborate, and celebrate their scholarship.

Rooted in service and committed to impact, the Graduate Student Senate is a vital platform for representing graduate students and enriching campus life at Kent State University.
